Bottisham Music Society.

At the Annual General Meeting of the music Society on 25th January 2002, it was agreed, but with sadness, that the Music Society had to close.  The final concert would be on Friday 15th March 2002. The society has been running at a loss for some years, due to dwindling support.  After the retirement of Martin Gent as Chairman, the society had been kept going for two years by the Secretary, Joan Dennison, also acting as Chairman.  Still no offer to take up the Chairmanship had been forthcoming, and Joan was no longer willing to continue in the dual role.
It was hoped that the society could be resurrected in the not-too-distant future, if someone became able to take on the Chairmanship.
Our funds are not down to zero.  We are committed to contributing towards the restoration or replacement of the grand-piano in Bottisham Village College.  We shall keep the bank account open for up to five years, and whatever is left after the contribution to the piano fund, if anything, will be donated to the David Urwin Arts Award Scheme at the end of this period unless the Society has been resurrected.
If anyone feels able to take on the job of restarting the Society, please contact Joan Dennison, phone number 01223 811279.
