I just thought that you might like this photo for your Bottisham Spot. I took it in 1955 & it features some of the local lads, some of whom probably still live in the village. The photo shows the seat opposite the Bell Inn which was a popular meeting spot for us youngsters at that time. The boys (from right to left are Roy Carlton, Bob Isaacson, George Pearson, Bill Butcher, Ivan Howard and Raymond Sharp He was born in the village in 1935.) from: T Cornwell |

A
local battalion of the Home Guard was formed in the village and most of
those too old for call-up, many who had previously served in the First
World War, immediately joined. The photograph shows them on church parade
one Sunday morning in 1942 with Captain Edwards (Headmaster of the Village
Collage) in charge and Sergeant Vic Blinco on the far left. They are
parading on The Hill opposite the church and in front of Bedfords which
was the main shop in the village at that time selling groceries on one
side and drapery on the other. |
